Focus systems

The same narrowing, without a product.

Focus systems is how a team designs gather, narrow, and act into the way work already happens. Software can follow. It does not have to lead.

The method

  1. 01

    Gather

Scattered work lands in one place: threads, documents, tickets, notes.

Name what counts as input, where it lands, and what is ignored on purpose.

  2. 02

    Narrow

Rank, cut duplicates, and name the signal. Most of it can wait.

Decide who cuts the list, how many actions survive the day, and what “done” means.

  3. 03

    Act

One next action. Do it. Then the rings open for the next pass.

Put the one action where it cannot be buried, and agree how the next day starts.

What you leave with

  1. 01

    A decision rule

What counts as an input, who cuts the list, and how many actions are allowed to survive the day.

  2. 02

    An interface sketch

Where the one action lives so it is not buried again — a document is enough if that is where the work already happens.

  3. 03

    A weekly rhythm

A block that stays protected, and a way to start the next day without rebuilding the pile.
